The UAC invests in our creative community through both grants and services.
Approximately 60% of UAC expenditures are through our investment programs; 30% of expenditures are through community services such as marketing and promotion, research, public art, and advocacy for the arts.
The remaining 10% in expenditures funds operations for the organization.

Cultural Partner Grant Investments 2011 Grantees: $530,000
The UAC administers the Cultural Partner Grant Investment program to support the work of non-profit organizations or individual artists that deliver a high quality artistic product and whose work aligns with the UAC’s three primary strategic objectives: 1) to serve and engage our diverse community, 2) to position Greensboro as a cultural destination and 3) to foster education of our children through the arts. Applications are reviewed and scored on individual merit of the program of work presented. Funding is not guaranteed to any organization or based on previous funding history. Each application is considered by a qualified review panel.

Multicultural Grant Investments 2011 Grantees: $30,000
The UAC administers the Multicultural Grant Investment program to support programming that reflects African American, Asian American, Latino or Native American populations. Applicants do not have to be an arts organization, but funds must be used for arts programming. This program is funded by the NC Arts Council.

Regional Artists Grant Investments 2011 Grantees: $17,272
Regional Artists Grants are offered annually to further development of professional artists at any stage in their career. Grant funds may not be used for tuition in degree programs. Applicants must submit samples of their work and provide a narrative description of their career development plans.
Applicants are considered for funding using the following evaluation criteria: Artistic Excellence; Professional Commitment to his/her art form; Contribution of the proposed project to the applicant’s professional development; Feasibility of the proposed project. Each application is considered by a review panel of professional artists, administrators and community volunteers.

Teacher Art Grants 2011 Grantees: $12,000
These grants are designed to enhance and strengthen the use of the arts to teach core curriculum, to broaden programs offered for K-12 students and to encourage collaboration between artists, arts organizations and schools; emphasize learning in, through and about the arts and teacher professional development. Grants are accepted from a school’s teachers, parents or staff. Each application is reviewed by professional educators and community volunteers.
