Many new public art projects are now underway and slated for completion in late 2008 and early 2009.
- Coffee Cup Collaborative...is a new addition to Greensboro's public art collection which includes eight bronze coffee cups (2'x2') which on display in different locations throughout Greensboro. The cups symbolize the 1960's sit-in movement that began at Woolworth's in downtown Greensboro. Each cup is accompanied by a meaningful quote that speaks to the importance of freedom and the courage it takes to keep it.
- Downtown Greenway...this project will include "gates" at each of the four corners of the Greenway that will speak to the history and culture of each neighborhood it touches. This is an exciting project that will connect business and leisure areas with pedestrian access.
- Greene Street Parking Deck...this public art project transforms the Greene Street Parking Deck into a work of art! Artist Ron Fondaw installed the work along the entrance sides and on the pedestrial level to commemorate and celebrate transportation.
- Revolution Mill Studios...work is currently underway to commission a work for the entrance to the new Revolution Mill Studios which will be off of Church Street. This project will connect the converted mill space to Greensboro's textile history.
- Heritage Gardens...as part of the larger Gateway Gardens now under construction off of E. Lee Street, Heritage Gardens will include a stone plaza with commissioned designs displayed within the stones. Anticipated completion date is summer 2009.
